The team of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 2 dropped a new poster of Arulmozhi Varman aka Jayam Ravi from the film. The poster was released on the occasion of Lyca Productions's chairman Subaskaran, who is bankrolling the film along with Madras Talkies. In the poster, Jayam Ravi is seen among Buddhist monks and the scene is supposed to be the one where he goes into hiding when he develops fever after his boat meets with an accident. Interestingly, the first part of the film ended with the accident.

The second part of Ponniyin Selvan is all set to hit screens on April 28 and the film will release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. The film is an adaptation of Kalki's popular five-part novel of the same name. While Vikram plays Crown Prince Aditha Karikalan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan essays the role of Nandini Devi- Queen of Pazhuvur, Trisha as Ilaiya Piratti Kundavai, Jayam Ravi as Ponniyin Selvan/ Arulmozhi Varman and Karthi as Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan.

Though there was a buzz that the film's release might be postponed, the team dropped a teaser of the second part, thus confirming that the film will indeed hit screens in April. In the glimpse, Jayam Ravi is seen saying that the film combines fictional and real incidents, just as in the book. Karthi, on the other hand, says that the audience will witness something that they have not seen before. Vikram as Aditha Karikalan talks about how his love turns into his own villain. In the meantime, the second part will also capture the agony of Sundara Chola, who is worried if his son is alive or not.

Music for the film is by AR Rahman, cinematography by Ravi Varman, art direction by Thota Tharani and editing by Sreekar Prasad. The first instalment of the film was a huge success and the makers are planning the same with the second part as well.
