Ponniyin Selvan 2 Trailer: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vikram's chemistry and Trisha and Karthi's romantic portions are a major hit

The trailer of the second instalment of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan was unveiled yesterday amid a star-studded affair in Chennai. The event was attended by the entire cast and crew, with Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan as the Chief Guest. A surprise addition was the presence of Silambarasan. The trailer gives a glimpse of the Cholas' battle for the throne and Pandiyas plotting their downfall even as they fight among themselves.

For instance, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan spearheading the revenge on Aditha Karikalan, sure seems to have caught the attention of many. A user wrote, "The whole trailer is epic and there is Aishwarya Rai, her dialogues, her expressions If she doesnt win every award then it is the award which wont be credible (sic)."

Some have called Aishwarya as Nandini Devi, the queen of Pazhuvur, the definition of female rage. Another user stated that the chemistry between Nandini and Aditha Karikalan, will be something to watch out for. Interestingly, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vikram had played the lead in Mani Ratnam's Raavanan as well and their onscreen relationship had won many hearts.

Many others have stated that they are eagerly awaiting to watch the romance between Ilaiya Piratti Kundavai (Trisha) and Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan (Karthi). The user wrote, "Ponniyin Selvan Part 2 trailer >>> Part 1 trailer. Needless to say, I'm in for Karthi and Trisha's magic (sic)." The climax scene where Vallavarayan and Arunmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi) fighting on the battlefield has been much talked about on social media.
