Actor Karthi, who is basking in the success of his latest magnum opus, Ponniyin Selvan, has taken on yet another avatar. The actor, today, took to his social media handle to announce that he will be presenting his upcoming spy thriller Sardar, directed by PS Mithran. The film is slated to hit screens for Diwali and will release on October 21. Taking to his social media handle, Karthi announced the news. He wrote, "Shifting gears makkale. Getting ready to present #SARDAR this Diwali!@Psmithran @RaashiiKhanna_ @rajishavijayan @ChunkyThePanday @george_dop @gvprakash @AntonyLRuben @dhilipaction @Udhaystalin @iamnagarjuna @lakku76 @SonyMusicSouth (sic)."
The actor also shared a latest picture of himself from the film, in which he is seen in a rugged avatar with a scar on his face. Karthi will be seen in multiple getups in the film and according to the teaser, has been giving a tough fight to the authorities.
Sardar has Raashi Khanna and Rajisha Vijayan playing the leading ladies. The film marks the debut of Bollywood actor Chunky Panday in Tamil cinema. The veteran actor plays a suave businessman in the film and his portions were shot in Georgia and Azerbaijan. The actor had tweeted from the set, "Amazing Azerbaijan and Baku an architectural delight. Had a blast with the Film Crew of #Sardar, my first Tamil Film (sic).” He will be seen as the antagonist in the film. Interestingly, Sardar also marks the comeback of the 2000's leading star Laila after more than a decade-long hiatus.
Interestingly, Karthi has also sung a song titled Yerumayileri from the film. The actor had said that he never thought he could pull off the song. He had written on his social media page, "Never knew I could pull off something like this. Thanks to @gvprakash (sic)."
Sardar is all set to take on Sivakarthikeyan's Prince, which is also slated for a Diwali release. Prince is a romantic comedy helmed by Anudeep KV of Jathi Ratnalu fame.
