Mani Ratnam’s name is etched in Indian film history and the filmmaker is one of the most followed directors in the country. His upcoming movie, Ponniyin Selvan: I, has received a lot of attention for the same reason. The movie’s makers have now released a new poster for the movie, featuring Vikram as the Chola crown prince.
The poster, which was released by Lyca Productions through social media, has already caught the attention of film fans. The poster has Vikram front and center, as his character from the movie. The actor has a rather menacing smile on his face, wearing battle armour and a sword in his sheath. The poster also has a few elements of the royal architecture around it, with what looks like a procession taking place.
“Welcome the Chola Crown Prince! The Fierce Warrior. The Wild Tiger. Aditya Karikalan!,” Lyca wrote along with the post. The poster once again confirms the movie’s highly-awaited release date, which is September 30, 2022.
Directed by Mani Ratnam, the movie’s script is co-written by Mani and Elango Kumaravel while B. Jeyamohan has written the dialogues. The mega project, which is made at a reported budget of Rs. 500 crore, is based on the famous 1955 Tamil novel of the same name, written by journalist Kalki Krishnamurthy.
The movie’s star cast has already sparked intrigue among the fans, as Ponniyin Selvan features Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Shobitha Dhulipala, R. Parthiban, Jayaram, Lal, Aishwarya Lakshmi and more.
With Ravi Varman and A. Sreekar Prasad handling the cinematography and editing respectively, A.R. Rahman is on board as the music composer for the movie, making it his 16th collaboration with the director.
