Mrunal Thakur and Huma Qureshi's movie Pooja Meri Jaan was being considered for a theatrical release in November 2024. However, producer Dinesh Vijan has reportedly made a change in the plan. The producer also has Vicky Kaushal's film Chhaava lined up for a theatrical release in December this year. According to Mid-Day, the makers have decided to postpone the film's release to 2025. The postponement has apparently happened due to Chhaava's release on December 6, 2024.
A source told the tabloid that Pooja Meri Jaan is a special film for Dinesh Vijan. It is because the film belongs to a genre that Vijan's production hasn't explored so far. "He was looking for the right time to bring the film to cinemas and has finally slotted it for early 2025," a source added.
As per the report, Vicky's Chhaava wasn't the only reason why Pooja Meri Jaan has been postponed. The makers also felt that the last quarter of 2024 was packed. Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 are two big Bollywood releases in November 2024.
"On the first Friday of December, Vicky will bring Chhaava to the big screen. The team wants to do justice to the ambitious biopic, in terms of promotions and buzz. With Varun Dhawan’s Baby John coming on Christmas, Pooja Meri Jaan’s team felt it deserved breathing space," an insider told the tabloid.
For those who are unaware, Huma Qureshi and Mrunal Thakur's film Pooja Meri Jaan was officially announced on July 26, 2022. Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films made an official announcement about the film on its YouTube channel. The film will feature Huma as Sana and Mrunal as Pooja. It also stars Vijay Raaz and Vikram Singh Chauhan. Vishal Mishra has worked on the film's music. On the other hand, Navjot Gulati is the director of Pooja Meri Jaan.
