While Suresh Gopi’s 250th film Ottakomban is still facing problems on the legal front, the actor could well start work on his next entertainer helmed by Vellimoonga director Jibu Jacob.

The upcoming film, which is touted to be made on a big scale, will be the actor’s 253rd movie and as per reports also has Poonam Bajwa, Saiju Kurup and Hareesh Kanaran as part of the cast. The team had recently concluded auditions for various roles in the movie, which could go on floors this year.

Jibu Jacob’s previous directorial was the Asif Ali and Rajisha Vijayan-starrer Ellam Sheriyakum, which hit theatres in November 2021 and is currently streaming on ZEE5. The filmmaker has always ensured that he chose content that family audiences could relate to and the upcoming Suresh Gopi film is expected to be no different. According to reports, the superstar will be seen in a role of a family man in the film, which is produced by Confident Group and Thomas Thiruvalla Productions.

The makers had recently shared a post, looking for a person resembling the late actor Captain Raju’s younger self for a role in the movie.

Meanwhile, Suresh Gopi was last seen in Nithin Renji Panicker’s Kaaval, which is streaming on Netflix. The actor’s upcoming release will be Joshiy’s crime drama Paappan, in which he plays a retired police officer.

On his role, the film’s scriptwriter RJ Shaan had earlier told OTTplay that the character is different from what he has essayed in his previous ventures. Suresh Gopi will be seen playing two phases of his character Abraham Mathew Mathan’s life. “The character also respects Suresh ettan’s current age. He plays a cop who is into his retired life and it connects two generations as Neeta Pillai plays his daughter, who is also a police officer. It’s also a deeply-woven human story with layers of existential crisis and how rights and wrongs are relative,” Shaan said.
