As long as Baxter watches over her, Bella will be safe to learn. Bella embarks on a whirlwind journey across countries with the slick and debauched barrister Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), driven by her hunger for the worldliness she lacks. Bella becomes more determined than ever to fight for equality and freedom as she escapes the biases of her day.
