Popular audio label Saregama acquires the music rights of Chiranjeevi's Godfather

Popular music label Saregama, which held a numero-uno status in the Telugu audio market for a few decades, wasn't very aggressive in acquiring major Telugu films, producing regional albums in the recent years. However, the label has gained its momentum back in the market with biggies like Shyam Singha Roy, Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Ante Sundaraniki while also promoting Telugu independent singles in their Youtube channel. Their latest acquisition is also equally exciting.

The label has confirmed that they've purchased the music rights of Chiranjeevi's much anticipated political drama Godfather today. Yes, you heard it right! Saregama, announcing the same on their social media handles, wrote, "Elated to be associated with THE Mega 🌟 @KChiruTweets's much-awaited #GodFather! 🔥🔥 An @MusicThaman musical! 🥁🎶 #GodFatherOnSaregama." As the tweet says, the film has music by S Thaman, his first film for Chiranjeevi.

Godfather, the Telugu remake of Mohanlal's Malayalam hit Lucifer, is directed by Mohan Raja. Apart from Chiranjeevi, the film also stars Nayanthara, Satyadev, Sunil, Biju Menon and others in key roles. The film's first look is expected to be out tomorrow. Another reason that must have compelled Saregama to purchase the music rights is the special dance number between Chiranjeevi and Salman Khan, choreographed by Prabhudeva.

Nirav Shah is the cinematographer of Godfather while Suresh Selvarajan is the production designer. Lakshmi Bhupal has penned the dialogues for the film. Saregama's other popular music acquisitions in the recent past include Vishwak Sen's Ori Devuda, MS Raju's 7 Days 6 Nights, Thrigun's Prema Desam and Sunil-Anasuya starrer Darja.
