Project K, the third film of Nag Ashwin, who directed Mahanati and Yevade Subrahmanyam earlier, is arriving in 2024. The biggest stars across multiple industries - Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan - play key roles in the sci-fi thriller produced by Aswani Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies.
The makers are promoting the film in the presence of its lead actors - Prabhas, Kamal Haasan- and others at Comic Con, USA this weekend. After unveiling Deepika’s look from the film, Prabhas’ avatar was launched today. He’s dressed in a robotic costume and while he sports long hair and a beard while rising from the soil. The first look has met with largely negative responses from audiences online.
“All the expectations around this movie has been RUINED - expect disappointment and you'll never be disappointed,” a fan wrote while many wrote that they were shocked and said it was more like a fan-made poster. Some tried to play down the negativity and said they still trust Nag Ashwin as a director and that he will certainly make his presence felt on the big screen.
Some have already started comparing the film with Hollywood superhero sagas and how this look feels like a cheap imitation of sorts. Others are also waiting for the first glimpse to arrive on July 21 so that they have a clear perspective about the film. Santhosh Narayanan is scoring the music for the same. Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is the editor and Djordje Stojiljkovic cranks the camera.
As of now, Project K is scheduled for a January 12, 2024 release but the film is likely to be pushed for summer. Before the Rs 500 crore budget film, Prabhas will have another release, Salaar, directed by Prashanth Neel, arriving on September 28 this year. The teaser of the action entertainer was out a few days ago. He’ll also be seen in Maruthi’s horror comedy and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit.
