Even though Hombale Films, the makers of KGF have made no official announcement, for a while, the rumour has been that they’d give a fans a special treat by bundling the teaser of their next big film, the Prabhas-starrer Salaar, which is also being directed by KGF maker Prashant Neel, with the Yash-led KGF: Chapter 2.

No doubt, fans were given a massive treat when they instead hinted at a possible KGF: Chapter 3 and not a Salaar teaser. For that, we hear that they’ll have to wait some more. Trade expert Taran Adarsh today announced that the teaser of Salaar will be released in the last week of May.

“'SALAAR' TEASER NEXT MONTH... #HombaleFilms - the producers of #KGF and #KGF2 - will unveil the teaser of their next PAN-#India film #Salaar - starring #Prabhas - in the last week of May... #Salaar is directed by the Hit Machine #PrashantNeel,” he posted.

According to KGF cinematographer Bhuvan Gowda, who is also working on Salaar with Prashant, Prabhas’ film is about 30% done. “April 14, 2022, was actually supposed to be Salaar’s release date, but the pandemic changed things around. Salaar will now be a 2023 release,” says Bhuvan.

The buzz in industry circles since Salaar kicked off has been that Salaar is the Telugu remake of Prashant’s debut directorial Ugramm, which had Sriimurali in the lead. While the filmmaker has often denied this, but said that all his films will have shades of his signature style that he debuted with Ugramm. But going by the cast announced so far, it is highly likely that Salaar could be Ugramm after all, with Prabhas taking on Sriimurali’s role, Shruti Haasan that of Hariprriya and Prithviraj that of Tilak. A source close to the film tells us that the basic line of Salaar and Ugramm are the same, but that Prashant is making changes to the narrative based on Prabhas’ image and the fact that it will come out almost 10 years after the original.
