Actor Prabhas who was last seen in Salaar, is currently working on Kalki 2898 AD with filmmaker Nag Ashwin. While the makers have announced that the film will hit theatres on May 9, the expectations on the film have been piling up. Now as per new reports, the makers are coming up with a special something to further increase the hype around the project.

Kalki 2898 AD to have prelude film
As per a Pinkvilla report, the makers of the film have created a special animated film which will serve as a prequel or introduction to Kalki 2898 AD. The said prelude will warm up the audience to the world of the film, which is touted to be a sci-fi futuristic film set in a dystopian world but rooted in Indian mythology. The prelude is also said to premiere at a digital platform with Prabhas lending his voice to his character as well.
The report further state that the conclusion of the animated film will lead to the beginning of Kalki 2898 AD and give an overall introduction to the main characters. However, the makers are yet to officially announce this plan. The film is mounted on a grand scale by Vyjayanthi Films production banner.
Kalki 2898 AD to get postponed?
Earlier, the film was supposed to have released in January. However, the makers had pushed the date to May 9, citing that the film requires more time for its production work. While the makers have remained tight-lipped if the date is further pushed, speculation is rife that the film might not come on May 9. Further, with the Andhra Pradesh government revealing that the assembly and Lok Sabha elections would be held on May 13, it is highly debatable if the film will arrive on the said date.
