Director-actor Pradeep Ranganathan's latest blockbuster Love Today will be remade in Hindi. The Bollywood remake rights have been bagged by Phantom Studios. The company will produce it in association with the film's original producer, AGS Entertainment.
"Super happy to announce the Hindi Remake of #LoveToday in association with Phantom Films @FuhSePhantom @shrishtiarya Can’t wait to take this film to a larger audience with a super interesting cast and crew @pradeeponelife @Ags_production @aishkalpathi," tweeted Archana Kalpathi, the CEO of AGS Entertainment.
"Love in today’s technology-forward world is exactly the kind of authentic and provocative storytelling that Phantom Studios has always stood for," said Srishto Behi, CEO of Phantom Studios in a statement.
The filmmakers haven't revealed the details of the cast and crew of the Hindi remake. Will Pradeep will take the responsibility of directing the Hindi remake? It remains to be seen. "The film was one of the biggest hits in Tamil cinema in 2022 and is now all set for a Hindi remake with Phantom Studios in association with its original producers AGS Entertainment. The official Hindi remake is expected to release in early 2024," read a tweet from Phantom Studios.
Love Today was first convinced by Pradeep as a short skit for a YouTube channel. A little more than a 4-minute video was titled Appa Lock. Following the success of his directorial outing Comali in 2019, Pradeep developed the idea of Appa Lock into a full-fledged feature film. The result: a blockbuster.
Made at the cost of Rs 5 crore, Love Today went into earning more than Rs 80 crore from its worldwide ticket sales. The film was one of the biggest hits of Tamil cinema in 2022. Besides writing and directing, Pradeep played the lead in the movie.
Love Today is streaming on Netflix.
