Prajakta Koli reunites with Mismatched director Akarsh Khurana for her debut teleplay

YouTuber-turned-actress Prajakta Koli is all set to make her debut in the world of teleplay with the upcoming play, Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti, which is directed by Akarsh Khurana. The actress is reuniting with the director after their successful web series Mismatched. The teleplay is an adaptation of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew, and will release on Zee Theatre.

Talking about working in a teleplay, Prajakta said, "I have done theatre before and working with Akarsh is always a treat. He is a mentor and guide to many young actors and I always go to him to have heart-to-heart conversations. Even though he is a prankster, he always draws the best out of actors, and I trusted him completely to guide me through my first teleplay."

The actress also mentioned that she had an absolutely wonderful time on the set. According to her, the joy they experienced during the shoot is palpable in the final cut. "The audience is going to love that this teleplay is 'extra' and packed with so much fun," said Prajakta, who has appeared in the short film Khayali Pulao, and the feature film Jugjugg Jeeyo, apart from two seasons of the Netflix original Mismatched.

Speaking about the teleplay, Akarsh said, "Some stories are an absolute joy to tell, and Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti was one such project. The cast and crew absolutely loved blending the colourful quirks of the 90s with the comedic genius of Shakespeare, both of which I grew up loving."

The teleplay also features Shikha Talsania, Adhaar Khurana and Chaitnya Sharma. Shikha, who plays a pivotal part in the play, said that she took inspiration from all the actors of the 90s that she adored and brought a whole lot of her own madness to it.

Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti releases on Zee Theatre on February 19.
