Prakash Raj joins the world of Raayan; has an important role in Dhanush’s directorial

The makers of Raayan, the upcoming Tamil film, have left no stone unturned in releasing one update after another to keep the audience enthralled with the project. Recently, the makers released the character posters of filmmaker-turned-actors Selvaraghavan and SJ Suryah.

In line with this, the makers of Raayan released the poster to announce that versatile actor Prakash Raj is also part of the film. Besides starring in the film, Dhanush also directs Raayan.

Prakash Raj joins the world of Raayan

Raayan already boasts a star-studded cast. The first look was unveiled a few days ago, and we got to know that Kalidas Jayaram and Sundeep Kishan are part of the film. After announcing that SJ Suryah and Selvaraghavan are part of the film, the makers announced that Prakash Raj is part of Rayaan. A monochromatic poster of Prakash Raj sitting on a chair against the backdrop of a street was released to make the announcement.

Raayan is Dhanush’s 50th outing as an actor and is being backed by Sun Pictures. It has music scored by AR Rahman. Prakash Raj and Dhanush have worked in films like Thiruvilaiyaadal Aarambam, Thiruchitrambalam, and Asuran, to name a few.

Dhanush acts in, directs and is the scriptwriter for Raayan

Dhanush, who was last seen in Captain Miller, is directing Raayan. He has also written the script for the film. Reports suggest that the film is a gangster drama high on action, with the actor playing the role of the titular cook. However, circumstances lead to Raayan’s past being unravelled as a gangster. Kalidas and Sundeep are expected to play his brothers in the film. Raayan is set in north Madras.

Speculation was rife that Raayan was a script penned by Selvaraghavan and was supposed to have featured actors Ajith, Dhanush, and Bharath as three brothers. However, recently the filmmaker clarified on social media that Raayan’s script is solely Dhanush’s brainchild and that he is associated with the project only as an actor. A release date for Raayan is yet to be announced by the makers.
