Last year, actor-politician Prakash Raj launched a free-of-cost ambulance service in Mysuru in memory of the late Kannada movie icon Puneeth Rajkumar. And he has scaled up this service with the help of some of the biggest stars from across the south Indian film industry. Prakash revealed that superstars Chiranjeevi, Suriya and Yash have joined his effort to make this service available in every part of Karnataka.

"Dr Puneeth Rajkumar is an unforgettable memory for all of us. His generosity and love for society were so inspiring. And if we want him to continue to live among us, the only way is for us to continue the good work that he has left (behind). This was the inspiration for the Appu Express ambulance. My dream and the Prakash Raj Foundation's dream is that this ambulance reaches every part of Karnataka. We started in Mysuru. Here we have the next phase, five ambulances to the districts of Bidar, Kalaburagi, Udupi, Kollegal and Koppal. This time I'm not alone. There are wonderful people with me. Megastar Chiranjeevi garu, actor Suriya and our darling Yash and his friend Venkat," said Prakash in a video message.

He especially thanked Yash for his unconditional support of this initiative. "I love what Yash said. He said, 'sir, it's not your dream alone. It's our collective dream'. I thank him for his immense generosity. We could have made a big event out of it, but Yash and I thought the expense incurred for a function, it can buy us another ambulance for the poor," he added.

Prakash also explained the reason behind the low-key launch of the latest phase of the ambulance service. "I'm aware that people will ask whether it's politics. Yes, it's our politics of love, sharing and celebrating humanity and celebrating the spirit of our own Puneeth Rajkumar," he explained.

Prakash is a leading character actor who has shared screen space with all the leading superstars of Indian cinema. He also acted in Yash's blockbuster movie KGF: Chapter 2.

Puneeth would have turned 48 on March 17 this year , if he had been alive. The Kannada movie icon passed away on October 29, 2021, following a cardiac arrest sending shock waves across the country.
