Pramod’s next action flick, English Manja, in theatres this April

If it was not for the pandemic and the subsequent delays in production, actor Pramod’s first release after Rathnan Prapancha would have been English Manja, his first project as an out-and-out commercial hero. However, things didn’t exactly go as per plan, and the actor’s Bond Ravi came to theatres earlier. Speaking to OTTplay earlier, Pramod had said, ““English Manja is a film I started soon after Rathnan Prapancha, which took us nearly 75 days to complete. It is very different from the films I have done so far, be it Premiere Padmini, Geetha Bangle Store or Udgharsha. It’s a big film for me, in terms of the scale of production. English Manja is special for me because this is my first outing in a title role. It is an out-and-out commercial action film with 4-5 major stunt sequences, songs, etc. and will give me a mass-hero image. Manja is characterized by his struggle with learning English and his keen interest in the underworld.”

The film directed by Arya Mahesh pairs Pramod with Thejaswini Sharma and is a love story at its crux, even though the narrative is action-packed. According to the makers, English Manja is a film that revolves around a college student called Manjunath aka Manja, in a story laced with love, friendship, action and drama. The teaser of English Manja had been released in January 2022 and the film was expected to come out sometime last year, but it got further delayed and the makers are finally ready to bring it to theatres on April 21.

Pramod, meanwhile, has films like Alankara Vidyarthi and Bhuvanam Gaganam lined up in Kannada. But the absolute biggie in his career is the Prashant Neel directed Salaar in which Pramod has a pivotal role along with leading man Prabhas.
