Pranavi Manukonda: Slum Dog Husband strikes a fine balance between emotions and comedy, I loved the script

Sanjay Rrao, Pranavi Manukonda are joining forces for a quirky comedy titled Slum Dog Husband that releases in theatres this Saturday. Reliance Entertainment is distributing the film in Telugu states. The film, written and directed by AR Sreedhar, a former protege of Puri Jagannadh, is produced by Appi Reddy, Venkat Annapareddy. Ahead of its release, Pranavi Manukonda, a child artiste-turned-lead actor, spoke of her experiences working for the film.

"I was interested in acting right in childhood. I used to stand in front of the mirror and utter Anushka's dialogues from Arundhathi. Even mom is fond of the profession and my parents have always encouraged me. I began auditioning in my early years and rose to prominence with Routine Love Story, Uyyala Jampala. I got several offers as a child artiste and also acted in TV serials but I prefer films more. I recently acted in Amigos as well," she said.

Mic Movies approached her after noticing her reels and she auditioned for the part. "I really liked the title and the premise is unique. I had a ball reading the script and wasn't bored anytime. The film is packed with emotions and abundant humour. Mounika is a refreshing role and is unlike the mainstream film heroine characters. There are many layers to her role. I am equally nervous because this is my first as a lead," Pranavi stated.

She not only got to associate with a prominent banner, but worked with senior character artistes in the project and considers herself lucky. "I am in the final year of my graduation. When every second person was doing Instagram reels, I wanted to give it a shot too. I earned a lot of encouragement from netizens and my reach multiplied with time." Comparing her television and cinema stints, she mentioned the former demands dramatic performances, while films need you to be realistic.

"I am slightly nervous when I work with stars. I wrap up my scenes in 1-2 takes at best. I was at ease in the company of Sanjay and felt very comfortable. We adopted a realistic approach through the shoot. I think I enjoy an advantage being a Telugu girl because it helps me mirror the nativity of the part. I want to take up films that offer me a prominent role, whether it's glamourised or de-glamourised. My focus is on building a good career in the industry," she signs off.
