Debutant Nikhil Muraly’s romantic drama Pranaya Vilasam, which hit theatres in February this year, is gearing up for its OTT release. OTTplay had already revealed that the film’s streaming rights were picked by ZEE5 ahead of its theatrical release, and now the platform has zeroed in on a release date.
The movie, which is a romantic drama spanning generations, has Arjun Ashokan, Anaswara Rajan, Mamitha Baiju, Hakkim Shajahan and Manoj KU in pivotal roles. Pranaya Vilasam also marks Arjun Ashokan’s third OTT release this month, with Romancham and Khali Purse of Billionaires set to drop on Disney+ Hotstar and Sun NXT, respectively.
What is Pranaya Vilasam about?
The movie revolves around a series of love stories about individual members of a family. While Arjun Ashokan plays the son, Manoj KU and Sreedhanya play his father and mother, respectively. After a tragic incident, the father and son find out the mother’s diary and set about tracking the person that she had fallen in love with, during her younger years.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, the movie’s director Nikhil told us, “Pranaya Vilasam tells the story of different kinds of love – about romance between people, in varied landscapes. It’s all about love.” While the father and son’s love stories are set in the contemporary era, the mother’s romance is set decades ago in Kannur.
Amid the search for their mother’s lost love, the movie also explores how the relationship between the father and son, who were once at loggerheads, thaws and they find a common ground of understanding.
When and where to watch Pranaya Vilasam online?
Pranaya Vilasam is set to begin streaming on ZEE5 from April 7 onwards. The film will also be available to stream on OTTplay Premium. Incidentally, Arjun’s horror-comedy Romancham also releases on Disney+ Hotstar on the same date.
