Bengali literature is full of jewels, but the number of book readers is reducing due to busy life. Aakash Aath brought back Sahityer Sera Somoy for those people. Several popular novels are televised there. Right now, Samaresh Basu's popular novel Teen Bhubaner Pare is being shown. Previously, it was made into an iconic film where Soumitra Chatterjee played the protagonist Montu. On television, Prantik Banerjee plays the role.
How was his experience of working in the role, previously played by Soumitra? Prantik told Hindustan Times Bangla, “I was scared initially.” He then explained, “I feared that I would be asked whether I was scared to do the role previously played by Soumitrababu. (laughs) I was a bit scared since it is a cult character. However, I realized that the serial is not based on the cinema but the source novel. Hence there are many differences.”
How did he prepare? Prantik said, “I did not do workshops. But I maintained my looks. I grew a mustache and grew my hair. I kept in mind the fashion and looks of that time. The rest is acting and the script I get.”
Teen Bhubaner Pare started in mid-November. Dipsita Mitra plays the heroine Sarasi. Purba Banerjee, Jayatri Banerjee, Madhumita Banerjee, Pradip Moulik, Chandak Banerjee, and Tannistha Biswas are playing other important roles.
