Two big movies clashed at the box office this Christmas. Prashanth Neel's Salaar locked horns with Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki at the ticket windows. While Salaar stars Prabhas in the lead role, Dunki features Shah Rukh Khan in a pivotal role. Despite stiff competition from one another, both films are doing well at the box office. While it is being dubbed a 'war', Prashanth Neel believes that there is no such thing between Salaar and Dunki.

Prashanth Neel on Salaar vs Dunki

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Prashanth Neel made it clear that Salaar is not at war with Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki. The filmmaker said it is not a cricket match that is being played.

"There is no war between Dunki and Salaar. I don't think either of us thinks like that. I don't think the makers of Dunki think like that, and I don't think the makers of Salaar think like that. We are here to survive and we are here to impress the audience. We are here to entertain the audience. We are not here to compete amongst ourselves. This is not a cricket match," he told the entertainment portal.

Prashanth Neel on Salaar vs Dunki social media war

While Prashanth feels Salaar and Dunki are not at war, the filmmaker shared his thoughts on the negativity around both movies on social media. The director added, "It might be that way (war) for the fans but for us, we are not trying to compete with one another. We are both trying to survive together," mentioned Neel. In the past, we have witnessed on social media that fans resort to spreading negativity around actor's film, whenever there is a box office clash between movies of two superstars. However, it neither affects the films' box office business nor the equation between the actors.

The Salaar director added that he doesn't advocate being part of something like that (fan wars around films). Prashanth revealed that he has heard about the social media wars being 'nasty'.

Salaar vs Dunki box office collection

Meanwhile, Salaar's domestic collection is approximately Rs 318 crore, while Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki is inching closer to Rs 200 crore. The actual collection of Dunki in India is estimated to be around Rs 170 crore. Having said that, Dunki has performed well at the worldwide box office but it still lags behind the Prabhas-starrer.
