Pratibha Ranta made her Bollywood debut with filmmaker Kiran Rao's movie, Laapataa Ladies. The actress played the role of Jaya Tripathi Singh in the movie, which theatrically released on March 1, 2024. The movie opened to positive feedback from critics. A year after its release, Pratibha revealed how her career and life changed since Laapataa Ladies. The actress' film emerged as India's official entry to Oscar 2025 but didn't make it to the shortlist.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Pratibha Ranta revealed that things changed beautifully for her after Laapataa Ladies' release. The actress said, "Today, I can make a decision. I can see what I want to do. I can challenge myself as an actor.... Now, I want to try something new, and that can only happen if you have justified yourself in your first project, and audiences have loved you in your first project."
Pratibha further shared that she is aiming big with her next project. "My dreams have become bigger," she added. The actress also reacted to her movie not making it to the Oscars 2025 shortlist. Ranta admitted that she didn't get disappointed by it.
She was simply happy about the fact that her first Bollywood film became India's official entry for the prestigious award. The actress didn't expect that to happen with her first film. However, she was elated when it did and changed things for her later.
Pratibha Ranta wins Best Debut (Female) award
Meanwhile, Pratibha recently won Best Debut (Female) award at an award ceremony. The actress was honored for her performance in Laapataa Ladies. After her big win, the actress expressed gratitude on social media.
"Thankyou @raodyness kiran ma’am for bringing the best out of me. Thankyou aamir sir @aamirkhanproductions for giving me the opportunity and the entire team of laapata ladies, each and everyone has been a part of my journey in the best way possible (sic)," she captioned her Instagram post.
