Actor Pratik Gandhi has already amassed a following post his breakout success as Harshad Mehta in last year’s SonyLIV webseries Scam 1992. The actor will now star in another period webseries titled Vitthal Teedi, which will stream on a newly-launched Gujarati content streaming platform named OHO Gujarati.
The Gujarati series follows the story of a small-time gambler who rises to fame exploring the highs and lows of his life through games of cards. Set in the early 80s, Vitthal Teedi was filmed in January 2021 and its first look that was revealed on Thursday shows Pratik in a completely different avatar from the characters he has played so far.
The motion poster ends with a punch line that has now become Pratik’s forte. The show’s trailer is expected to release on May 1. Vitthal Teedi is directed by Gujarati filmmaker Abhishek Jain who has helmed films sucha as Kevi Rite Jaish, Bey Yaar and an upcoming Hindi film with Rajkumaar Rao and Kriti Sanon. It’s a homecoming of sorts for Gandhi to come back to Gujarati cinema with Jain and Cineman Productions who he had made his debut with.
Abhishek along with Pranay Shah will be spearheading OHO Gujarati, which is aiming at offering fictional and non-fictional Gujarati content in various formats - movies, short films, web/mini-series, documentaries, plays, table readings, music videos and more.
