Pravinkoodu Shappu on OTT: When, where to watch Basil Joseph’s Malayalam thriller in Hindi and Telugu

Basil Joseph, who has been impressing audiences with his versatile roles, starred in the lead role in Pravinkoodu Shappu. The Malayalam film, which released in theatres in January 2025, is now set to make its much-awaited OTT debut on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium next week. Not just in Malayalam, Basil Joseph’s whodunnit thriller will be available to stream in Hindi and other south languages on the platform.

Pravinkoodu Shappu, starring Basil Joseph in the role of a cop, will be available for streaming on SonyLiv from April 11, 2025, two months after its theatrical release. You can also watch the Malayalam mystery thriller with your OTTplay Premium subscription. Non-Malayalam speakers can watch the movie in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu or Kannada on both SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium along with English subtitles.

When it released in theatres on January 16, Pravinkoodu Shappu garnered positive to mixed reviews. The Basil Joseph-starrer was not a winner at the Kerala box office in January, which only saw Asif Ali’s Rekhachithram turn out to be a hit.

But considering the growing popularity of the Maranamass star, Pravinkoodu Shappu is likely to win over audiences in the OTT space. His recent OTT release Ponman fetched rave reviews for his performances after it dropped on JioHotstar.

Pravinkoodu Shappu plot and cast 

Apart from Basil Joseph, the film also stars Soubin Shahir and Chemban Vinod Jose, along with Chandini Sreedharan, and Shabareesh Varma. Sreeraj Sreenivasan, who has also penned the film, marks his directorial debut with Pravinkoodu Shappu.  

The intriguing mystery thriller follows cop Santhosh (Basil Joseph) as he tries to find the culprit after a toddy shop owner is found dead one fateful night. Some of the regular customers who stayed back at the shop, playing cards, become suspects.  

Meanwhile, Basil Joseph is currently gearing up for the release of Maranamass, which is set to hit theatres on April 10, 2025. Mammootty's Bazooka and young star Naslen's Alappuzha Gymkhana will also be released in theatres on the same day.
