Actress Preity Mukhundhan is all set to make her Malayalam film debut with Maine Pyar Kiya, which also stars Hridhu Haroon in the lead role. While talking about her bunch of favorite movies, Preity Mukhundhan said that Aavesham, starring Fahadh Faasil, is the one film that made her laugh non-stop. And we couldn’t agree with her more!
Aavesham is a 2024 Malayalam film, which stars Fahadh Faasil in the role of quirky gangster Rangannan. The film, instantly connected with the audiences and was a super hit wit. Now, in a recent rapid fire round with The Cue Studio, Preity Mukhundhan was asked about which would be the movie that made her laugh non-stop, and pat came the reply Aavesham!
Aavesham, written and helmed by Jithu Madhavan, narrates the tale of an eccentric gangster, the loyal sidekick Ambaan (a brilliant Sajin Gopu) and three college students who get more than what they bargained for. Hilarious situations, over-the-top performances, fun banter and a superb Fahadh Faasil who goes all out playing the loud gangster are the biggest strengths of the movie.

The action-comedy film follows three Malayali lads - Aju, Bibimon, and Shanthan - as they enroll at an engineering college in Bengaluru but get bashed up by a seniors’ gang led by a student named Kutty. They are determined to settle scores, but know that they will need local support to beat him in his home turf. Their quest takes them to Rangannan, the eccentric gangster, who takes the young lads literally under his wings.
Right from his white-and-white attire to his sparkling gold ornaments and his conversations in a mix of Kannada and Malayalam, ensure that Rangannan is nothing like any goons (or any characters) we have seen in the Malayalam movies thus far. He will crack you up with his over-the-top expressions, and every time he quips ‘Sradhikande Ambaane’ (you should have been careful) to his loyal sidekick.
The dumb-charades scenes with the youngsters, and even FaFa’s Karinkaliyalle song, which went viral and spawned numerous other reels, still remain one of the much-loved scenes from the movie.
From start to finish, Aavesham remains a fun entertainer with enough action scenes packed into the narrative. The songs have also been choreographed such that the fun element is not lost, especially Armadham birthday song where Rangannan is once again in his element.
