Preity Zinta on 18 Years of Veer Zaara: Here's to believing in good old-fashioned love

It's been 18 years since Yash Chopra's timeless romantic film, Veer Zaara, was released. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta in the titular roles, with Rani Mukerji as a lawyer, Samiya Siddiqui, who unites them after 22 years of separation. As the film clocked 18 years since its release, the producer, Yash Raj Films, shared a beautiful video filled with heartwarming moments.

In Veer Zaara, rescue pilot Squadron Leader Veer Pratap Singh of the Indian Air Force puts his own life in danger to save the lives of others. One day, while on duty, he discovers a Pakistani girl named Zaara who is lost. Zaara, a carefree, vivacious young woman, travelled to India in order to grant her surrogate mother's last request. She is involved in a bus accident and left stranded in a foreign country.

Veer saves her life, and as a result, his life is never the same. In her first case, Saamiya Siddiqui, a Pakistani attorney, is confronted by an aging Veer Pratap Singh 22 years later. No one knows why he has been imprisoned in a Pakistani detention cell for 22 years without speaking to anyone. Her goal is to ascertain Veer's reality and see that justice is done. And so begins her quest to learn the truth about Veer's life and career.
