It was “a dream come true” moment for Malayalam actor Shyam Mohan M, when he got to perform in front of Oscar-winning music director MM Keeravani and SS Rajamouli at the success celebration event of Premalu in Hyderabad.

Even before the event, Rajamouli had lauded Shyam’s performance as Aadhi from the Gireesh AD directorial, calling him his favourite character. The event led to the RRR filmmaker personally congratulating the actor for getting his mannerisms of playing a software engineer perfectly and being humorous while doing it.

Shyam Mohan: Performing for Keeravani sir is a ‘dream come true’ moment

But for Shyam, who is also popular for his renditions on social media, the biggest highlight of the event came when he had the opportunity to perform in front of Baahubali composer MM Keeravani at the event.

“Keeravani sir, I am big, big fan and actually, I met my wife through Smule, a singing app. We both started singing together, fell in love and got married,” he said, before going on to render the track Tharalitha Raavil from Mammootty’s 1992 film Soorya Manasam, which had Keeravani as its music director. Both Rajamouli and Keeravani were seen enjoying the performance in the video shared by Shyam on his social media page.

Incidentally, Premalu had Keeravani’s track Ya Ya Yadava from Devaragam as part of the film. Rajamouli appreciated Shyam’s performance as Krishna in the track and also praised Naslen and Sangeeth Prathap for their reactions while Aadi makes his appearance in the song.

Premalu crosses Rs 100 crore at the box office

Meanwhile, even a month after its theatrical release, there’s no stopping the film at the box office. The romcom, which also has Mamitha Baiju and Akhila Bhargavan as part of the cast, has already gone on to rake in Rs 100 crore at the worldwide box office and shows no signs of slowing down, despite facing strong competition from movies such as Bramayugam and Manjummel Boys in Kerala theatres, and Gaami and Bhimaa in Telugu states.

The film’s Tamil version is now set to hit theatres on March 15, and the makers are hoping it would create as much of an impact as Manjummel Boys did in Tamil Nadu. The latter has already gone on to become one of the highest grossing films in Tamil Nadu this year.
