Premendu Bikash Chaki has made it clear that his Paka Dekha is a simple family drama that is devoid of any complex narration. He also said that the film that features Soham Chakraborty and Susmita Chatterjee is full of humour that will make it a happy watch. The film will be released on September 2.

Talking about the film, Premendu Bikash told OTTplay that Paka Dekha is a film made to entertain. He further added that there is no complex plot in the film. By his admission, the film is full of ‘Bangaliana’. “The pandemic period was truly a taxing time for all of us. I feel we desperately need some time to relax and laugh. Paka Dekha will give you that reason to laugh out loud with your family and friends,” he said. However, it is essentially a situational comedy and there is no crass humour, clarified the director.

Elaborating on the title of the film, Premendu Bikash recalled that Paka Dekha used to be an integral part of Bengali matrimony when the bride and groom’s family members used to meet and finalise the date and wedding. “It used to be an essential marker of Bengali weddings. These days, it is not as common as it used to be. Other rituals have taken over and brides and grooms decide their wedding date based on their available off days. My film is called Paka Dekha for nostalgia. It has a certain recall value and I wanted to explore that,” he said.

The director also emphasised that his film aims at the single-screen audience. “I want people to pay Rs 60-70 to watch my film. Paying Rs 160 for a film at multiplexes may seem a little out of reach for many Bengali audiences,” the director said.

Besides Susmita and Soham the time also features Sumanta Mukhopadhyay, Dolon Roy, Dipankar Dey, Kharaj Mukhopadhyay and Laboni Sarkar.
