Prem’s only demand for Ek Love Ya was to give a whistle-worthy performance: Rachita Ram

Kannada cinema’s showman, filmmaker Prem’s Ek Love Ya has been in the news for a while, as it introduces two new talents to the industry, one of who is former actress Rakshitha’s brother, Raanna. The film also stars Rachita Ram, in an important, but undisclosed, role, which she has described as one of the most challenging ones in her career so far.

Speaking at a recent media event, Rachita spoke at length about how Prem involves himself in every aspect of filmmaking, the result of which will be for all to see when the film opens in theatres on February 24. But she also said that Prem’s only demand of her was to ensure that every scene she’s in gets audiences to throw money at the screen and whistle in appreciation. The response to her songs from the film and the few glimpses in the trailer, be it of her smoking or kissing the hero, have been phenomenal, she said, which is testimony to the director’s capability of extracting the best from artistes. “Every actor on the set of Ek Love Ya would work extra hard to make Prem happy,” she said, adding, “The thing about Prem is that you can gauge his state of mind by just looking at his face; so, it was easy to figure out if we’d done him proud or not. And when we knew he wasn’t happy, we would ask for retakes to get it right.”

Rachita also said that she was happy that Prem gave her this character in Ek Love Ya, which was not only different from her earlier works, but also quite challenging. “Usually, I don’t go prepared to any set, because every filmmaker has a vision of how the character should turn out, and if you have a different take on that, it won’t sync. I didn’t go with a preconceived notion of the character on the set of Ek Love Ya and let Prem take over and guide me,” she said.
