Prime Video has launched the high-stakes action-thriller Ground Zero following its theatrical run. Excel Entertainment's Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar produced the film, which Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar directed. The film features Emraan Hashmi in the lead role along with Sai Tamhankar, Zoya Hussain, and Mukesh Tiwari.
Ground Zero is based on the true story of BSF officer Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey's (Hashmi) two-year counter-terrorism operation in Kashmir. This true crime thriller follows the investigation into the 2001 Parliament attack, one of the worst disasters to happen in modern India, as it follows clues from actual occurrences. The film aims to convey the complexity of counter-insurgency operations and the personal and professional hardships endured by service members.
The release format mirrors the new subscription model for Prime Video. All Prime Video subscribers can watch Ground Zero for free with advertisements. But there's an extra ₹699 a year price for anybody who wants to view the movie sans ads. Prime Video Originals, including Ground Zero and Karan Johar's new reality competition series The Traitors India, which debuted last week, are eligible for this ad-free upgrade.
Viewers now have the option to select between an ad-supported and an ad-free experience, thanks to the platform's shift towards a dual-tier model. Those who are interested in watching new releases in one sitting could find the ₹699 yearly top-up particularly useful, as it guarantees ongoing access to certain titles.
As the most recent in a series of highly publicised releases across fiction and nonfiction, Ground Zero rounds off Prime Video's original Indian programming schedule. People who enjoy seeing dramatisations of real-life events will probably enjoy this film because of its political context, investigative suspense, and relevance to national security topics.
With a performance-heavy cast and a plot based in recent Indian history, Ground Zero is now streaming—and you can choose between the normal subscription and the ad-free premium.
