In a very shocking turn of events in Mumbai, a few weeks after the alleged robbery attempt at Saif Ali Khan’s residence, which led to the actor being attacked, another incident of theft has come to light in a celebrity’s office involving a whopping amount. National Award-winning Bollywood music composer Pritam Chakraborty is the latest victim of a robbery, with the thief fleeing with a bag full of cash from his Mumbai office. Shockingly, it wasn't a stranger but his office assistant, who had worked with the composer for close to a decade. Read on to know everything about the case.
As per a TOI report, the Malad police have launched a manhunt to track down Ashish Sayal, 32, an office assistant at Pritam Chakraborty’s Mumbai office, who has allegedly fled with ₹40 lakh in cash. The composer reportedly received the amount as payment from a production house for an assignment. The complaint about the robbery was filed by Pritam’s manager, Vineet Chheda, 29, at the Malad Police Station, and an investigation is currently underway.
According to the police, the National Award-winning composer’s studio, Unimuse Records Private Limited, is located in the Rustomjee Ozone Building on Goregaon-Mulund Link Road, Mumbai. It is reported that on Tuesday, film producer Madhu Mantena sent one of his employees to Pritam's studio with the payment for an assignment in cash. The total amount was ₹40 lakh in 500-rupee notes. The accused, Ashish Sayal, was present in the office along with two other office assistants, Ahmed Khan and Kamal Disha.
The complainant, Vineet Chheda, left the office to go to Pritam Chakraborty’s residence to obtain the composer’s signatures on some documents. When Chheda returned around 10:30 PM, he noticed that the bag containing ₹40 lakh in cash was missing. Upon inquiry, it was discovered that Ashish Sayal had taken the bag, claiming he was delivering the cash to Pritam’s residence.
Sayal reportedly never reached Pritam’s home, nor did he return to the studio. His phone has been switched off ever since, and there is no trace of him so far. Initially, Chakraborty asked his team to wait for Sayal, as he had worked with the composer for seven long years. However, after a couple of days without any contact, Pritam, through Vineet, reported the matter to the police. Chheda also approached the court and filed a legal complaint.
The Malad police have registered a case under Section 381 (theft by employees, servants, or clerks of their employer’s property) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and have begun an investigation. A search operation for Ashish Sayal is actively underway, and everyone present at the scene is being questioned as Sayal remains uncontactable.
