We had earlier reported that the team of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Kuruthi is in talks for a direct-to-OTT release and now the actor, who is also producing the film, has confirmed that the movie will release on Amazon Prime Video this Onam season.

The thriller, directed by Manu Warrier and scripted by Anish Palliyal, has an ensemble cast featuring Roshan Mathew, Srinda, Shine Tom Chacko, Murali Gopy, Mammukoya and Navas Valikunnu. Prithviraj revealed the film’s release date by unveiling its poster and captioning it, “Keep your friends close and frenemies closer.”

The film’s director Manu, who is making his Mollywood debut with Kuruthi, had told OTTplay a few days ago, “It’s only after you watch the finished product, you get to see the thrills and all the elements in place. Be it Abhinandan Ramanujan’s visuals or Jakes Bejoy’s music, when you are working on post production, you are usually working on a lower resolution model. When you see the final output is when you realise it has all come together. Personally, I am quite thrilled by the way it has come out and a lot of it is, thanks to Prithvi for making it happen.”

The movie’s shoot was wrapped up at brisk pace earlier this year. Prithviraj was also all praise for its cast and crew, who shot amid the pandemic following all COVID-19 protocols but without letting any of it affect the work.

Kuruthi marks Prithviraj’s second direct-to-OTT release after Cold Case in June. His upcoming movie Bhramam, which is the Malayalam remake of Andhadhun, is also expected to release on an OTT platform. The makers of Bhramam, however, are yet to confirm this officially.
