The next historical Hindi action film Prithviraj is directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Yash Raj Films. As it is difficult to create a historical scenario, Dwivedi was aware of the job and has made every effort to keep the film realistic.

To recreate the 12th century Chahamana dynasty, the director maintains ‘detailing was key’ for authenticity. Chandraprakash shared instances of how the team was a stickler for authenticity in an interview with Mid-Day. He said that the team along with costume designer Sanjeev Raj Singh put in deep research into understanding what colours, patterns and fabrics were prevalent during that time to create an adequate fashion palette.

“Over 50,000 costumes were hand-made by the costume designer who, along with his team, was specially flown in from Rajasthan. He stayed in Mumbai and made these outfits from scratch. I’m glad I had a producer like Aditya Chopra who believed in my vision for the film,” the director told Mid-Day

According to the director, the team also had a professional on set to oversee the turbans process. He explained that all the turbans were a replication of the ones worn by people of different stature and professions during Prithviraj’s reign.

Prithviraj will be Akshay’s latest upcoming release, and the actor shared that he has been impressed by the team’s effort to stay true to history. He told Mid-Day that it’s rare to see movies and directors put in so much work into the detailing. He added that every bit of the movie has been dealt with “utmost sincerity, authenticity and reverence.”

Prithviraj also stars Manushi Chhillar, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonu Sood and will be released in theatres on June 3.

On the work front, Akshay will appear next in Raksha Bandhan and RamSetu.
