Director-actor Prithviraj Sukumaran began the shoot of his second directorial, Bro Daddy, in Hyderabad today. The film, which was earlier set to shoot in Kochi, had shifted the location to Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad with Kerala government yet to relax pandemic restrictions, permitting outdoor shoots.
Currently, Prithviraj and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s portions are being shot. A source from the team tells us that Mohanlal will join the shoot only a week later. Bro Daddy, which is a feel-good film, also stars Kaniha, Meena, Soubin Shahir, Murali Gopy and Lalu Alex in pivotal roles.
The makers had also released the first photo from the film’s set with Prithviraj and Kalyani on a bike. The film’s script is by Sreejith N and Bibin Maliekal. Antony Perumbavoor, who was supposed to produce Prithviraj and Mohanlal’s Empuraan, is also backing Bro Daddy.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Prithviraj had said, “In my mind, it was never meant to be a huge multi-starrer or anything. I thought it was so different from what I am used to as it’s different from my first movie and my supposed second film; so, I wanted to give it a try. It will be great for me as a filmmaker. I am going to break myself as I will have to conceive it differently. And then casually I narrated this script to Lalettan and immediately, he said we are doing it. That’s how it took off.”
Meanwhile, Mohanlal has also signed Jeethu Joseph’s 12TH Man, which is also produced by Perumbavoor’s Aashirvaad Cinemas. While the movie was supposed to begin before Bro Daddy, the pandemic restrictions in Kerala have prompted the makers to start Prithviraj’s directorial first.
