Prithviraj’s Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan beats up cops in the latest still from Shaji Kailas’ Kaduva

After a gap, Prithviraj Sukumaran is set to be back in a ‘mass’ action avatar in Shaji Kailas’ Kaduva, which is currently in production. The Malayalam actor today shared a still from the movie that has his character Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan bashing cops and sending them flying in ‘mass’ action style.

The movie, scripted by Jinu Abraham, has Prithviraj playing a Mundakkayam-based rubber planter. The film is reportedly set in the 90s and also features Arjun Ashokan, Samyuktha Menon, Vijayaraghavan, Sudev Nair, Siddique and Vivek Oberoi in pivotal roles. The confrontation between Kuruvachan and the police force is a pivotal element that drives the story.

Earlier this month, the movie’s director Shaji Kailas, who had previously collaborated with Prithviraj in Simhasanam, had wrapped up Alone and resumed the second schedule of Kaduva. He said he would be shooting the movie for the next 70 days and that it’s a movie made on a big canvas. Kaduva is co-produced by Prithviraj Productions and Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames.

While Sujith Vassudev handles its cinematography, Jakes Bejoy will be teaming up with Prithviraj again after Kuruthi and Bhramam for its music. The composer had earlier told OTTplay about how working in Telugu movies had helped him with the score of Kaduva.

“When you do projects in other industries, there’s a perspective shift. They don’t think the same we do in Malayalam. There’s a huge learning and unlearning happening. For instance, I am doing a huge ‘mass’ film, Kaduva. I have worked with Geetha Arts in Telugu that produces the biggest commercial entertainers. It was an education to know how to make a commercially engaging subject into a mass film, and this has helped in Kaduva,” he told us. According to reports, the makers of Prithviraj Kaduva are eyeing an Eid 2022 release. 

Meanwhile, Prithviraj has wrapped up his portions for Bro Daddy, which is expected to be an OTT release, and had also shot for Alphonse Puthren’s Gold that has Nayanthara as the female lead. The actor is next expected to complete shooting for Dijo Jose Antony’s Jana Gana Mana.
