Mohanlal’s Lucifer, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and came out in 2019, ended up being a massive hit. The movie also became the superstar’s biggest movie and fans are eagerly waiting for its sequel.
Prithviraj Sukumaran, who made his directorial debut with the movie and is also helming the sequel, took to social media to share a photo from the movie. The actor-director also used a quote from Will Smith’s Oscar acceptance speech as the post’s caption.
Sharing a photo of Mohanlal as Stephen Nedumpally from Lucifer, he wrote, “At your highest moment…be careful. That’s when the DEVIL comes for you!” - Denzel Washington.”. He also added a hashtag that reads “L2”, a shout out to the highly-anticipated sequel.
The post comes from the director as today marks the three year anniversary of Lucifer, which went on to dominate the box office in Kerala.
The quote Prithviraj used was from Will Smith’s acceptance speech which followed his controversial bust-up with comedian-actor Chris Rock. Will Smith revealed that the quote was told to him by Denzel Washington following the incident.
Written by Murali Gopy, the political action thriller drama was produced by Antony Perumbavoor through the production house Aashirvad Cinemas. The movie also stars Vivek Oberoi, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Saniya Iyappan, Sai Kumar, Baiju Santhosh, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nyla Usha.
With music from Deepak Dev, the camera was handled by Sujith Vaassudev and edited by Samjith Mohammed. The sequel, which is titled Empuraan, is in its pre-production stages.
A Telugu remake of the movie starring Chiranjeevi is already in production. Bollywood star Salman Khan will also be seen in a cameo role in the movie.
