Alphonse Puthren’s Premam in 2015 created a big storm in Kerala, especially among the youngsters. The director is making his return with Gold starring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead.
During an interview with The Cue, Prithviraj explained that he, like most people, is happy that Alphonse is making his comeback after a long gap with Gold.
“If we are to talk about the genre of the film, then I can say that ‘Gold’ is a complete Alphonse Puthren film. The factor that attracted me to ‘Gold’ was also because of the fact that Alphonse Puthren is directing the film”, said Prithviraj.
Prithviraj added that he has wanted to work with Alphonse, who is one of his favourite directors, and that this dream has come true with Gold. The actor also said that he wishes to do more films with the filmmaker in the future.
Earlier in March, makers of Gold released the film’s first teaser. The teaser, which also set a record as the first in Malayalam to get 5M views in less than 24 hours, hinted at a movie that will have all the elements of an Alphonse Puthren movie.
Apart from Prithviraj, the movie also stars Nayanthara in the lead. Mallika Sukumaran, Shammi Thilakan, Roshan Mathew, Shanthi Krishna, Vinay Forrt, Althaf Salim, Deepti Sati, Lalu Alex, Sudheesh, and Saiju Kurup will be seen in supporting roles.
With Alphonse having also worked on its script, editing, stunts, visual effects, animation and colour grading, the expectation around Gold is big. The director is also working on Paatu, which has Fahadh Faasil in the lead.
