For those awaiting news on when the much-hyped sequel of Lucifer, Empuraan, will go on floors, its director and actor Prithviraj Sukumaran shared an interesting update. He said in a recent interview that the movie will begin shooting next year.
Prithviraj said that the pre-production of Empuraan was supposed to begin this year, but with the pandemic, it has become difficult to even finalise the locations for the movie, which will be made on a big scale. He said the current plan is to begin its pre-production work by mid-2022 and shoot it in the latter half.
In the first half of 2022, Prithviraj will resume shooting for Blessy’s Aadujeevitham. The team had completed half the film in Jordan last year. They will resume the rest of the portions in Algeria by February 2022, before returning to Jordan and winding up the film in India. The movie, which has music by AR Rahman, is based on Benyamin’s eponymous novel. The actor will begin work on Lucifer shortly after this, keeping in mind Mohanlal’s schedule too.
Mohanlal, meanwhile, also has his directorial to complete. The superstar was working on Barroz: The Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure when the lockdown was enforced earlier this year. The team had only shot for a week, which also included Prithviraj’s portions in the film. Barroz is expected to resume later this year, once the team has finalised the dates of foreign actors and their travel plans amid the pandemic.
While Empuraan is delayed, Mohanlal and Prithviraj has teamed up for a feel-good movie titled Bro Daddy, which has completed shooting. The film, directed by Prithviraj, will seen the duo together in full-length roles with Mohanlal playing the younger actor’s father. According to reports, the movie could be a direct-to-OTT release on Disney+ Hotstar.
