After several delays caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Manushi Chhillar and Sonu Sood's highly awaited film Prithviraj will finally release on June 3. The teaser for the upcoming film has been unveiled in Tamil and Telugu.
On Akshay Kumar's 52nd birthday in 2020, Prithviraj was announced. The film is based on King Prithviraj Chauhan's extraordinary life.
"Brave and victorious," Yash Raj Films wrote while sharing the teaser for Prithviraj in Tamil. The film is based on the great Hindu warrior, Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan.
"His courage was mightier than his sword," stated the caption for the Telugu teaser.
Prithviraj is a film directed and written by Chandraprakash Dwivedi that honours ‘India's bravest Samrat.’ Prithviraj Chauhan reigned over parts of Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
The epic drama, according to actor Akshay Kumar, is a testament to the warrior's heroism and life. The actor, who plays the lead role in the movie, previously stated, "The more I read about him, the more I was astonished by how he lived and breathed every single moment of his wonderful life for his nation and his principles."
Miss World Manushi Chhillar makes her Bollywood debut in Prithviraj. Sonu Sood, Sanjay Dutt, Ashutosh Rana, Sakshi Tanwar, Manav Vij and Lalit Tiwari also star in the film. The magnum opus, funded by Yash Raj Films, began shooting in November 2019. However, due to a coronavirus-induced lockdown in 2020, production for the film was interrupted and the crew had to disassemble the film's two massive sets.
Prithviraj, backed by Yash Raj Films, will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The film’s OTT release is not yet confirmed.
