Priya Bapat plays the leading role alongside Atul Kulkarni in the Disney+ Hotstar show.
Priya Bapat who made her OTT debut with Mayanagari - City of Dreams in 2019, reprised her role as Poornima in the second season which dropped on Disney+ Hotstar. The series created by Nagesh Kukonoor features her as a homemaker-turned-politician. Now, during a recent interaction, Priya revealed that despite playing a strong character in the web series, she still hasn't got enough opportunities to explore her calibre.
Priya told PTI, "The show has been a benchmark for me, everyone keeps telling me that it is my best performance. But I would still say that I didn't get enough opportunities of the same calibre after that to explore more. Unfortunately, I didn't get any of such powerful characters to play."
Talking about her character Poornima, the actor said that such defined characters are very rare thus it was a disappointment for her to not get opportunities.
Priya further said that she looks forward to getting more interesting characters where it has something to say or contribute to the script.
Bapat went on to say after season two, "Maybe people will understand and there will be many more opportunities after this."
While talking about not taking up more projects despite being a part of the industry for more than two decades, Priya said, "I am sure the audience remembers me for every film that I have done. None of my work has gone unnoticed. There's no point doing 300 films but only being remembered for one."
The actor said that she doesn't have regrets while watching the projects she turned down and someone else took over it.
Meanwhile, in City of Dreams season two, Priya plays the onscreen daughter of Atul Kulkarni and she revealed that she had goosebumps while reading the script.
The latest season was well-received by the masses and fans are waiting for the third season.
