Will Varun Dhawan win the ‘fictional’ Spy of the Year award?

At a presser in Mumbai today, filmmaker Karan Johar asked a funny yet imaginative question to Varun Dhawan. Karan wondered whether Varun will ever get awarded with a Spy of the Year award for his role in the franchise. Replying to this, Varun said, “For this to happen, people will have to stream the show on Prime Video. Beyond this talk, I must say that I am filled with gratitude. I am thankful towards the entire team of Amazon Prime Video for backing us (Honey Bunny).”

Expanding its universe, Citadel will introduce spin-off shows in various languages, each set in different locales including the Italian Alps, India, Spain, and Mexico. The Indian series, featuring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, is under the direction of Raj & DK.

What's the budget of the Citadel franchise?

Citadel, an Amazon Prime Video series created by Josh Appelbaum, Bryan Oh, and David Weil, is an action-packed espionage thriller with the Russo brothers as executive producers. Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas lead the cast as agents Mason Kane and Nadia Sinh, alongside Stanley Tucci and Lesley Manville.

Boasting an unprecedented budget of $300 million, the six-episode first season is one of the costliest TV productions. Premiering in April 2023, it was promptly renewed for a second season in March. Notably, Joe Russo will direct all episodes in the upcoming English language season.
