Priyanka Chopra Jonas is currently being trolled for calling RRR a Tamil film. The actress was correcting a podcast host who called it a Bollywood movie. Unfortunately, she herself had a slip-up since RRR is originally a Telugu movie.

Priyanka was talking to Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard. He was comparing Bollywood to be like the 50s of Hollywood when a few stars and big studios controlled everything. The actress agreed to that.

Soon to be seen in Citadel, Priyanka further told Dax that Bollywood has evolved. That is when he interrupted her and cited the example of Oscar-winning film RRR.

“That’s a Tamil movie by the way. It’s like big, mega, blockbuster Tamil which does all of those… it’s like our Avengers,” Priyanka said.

As expected, netizens were not too pleased with the comment. Hindustan Times reported that a user commented, “IDK what's the context. She could have done some research before mentioning but could have just (said) Indian film. This south vs south, north vs south is getting too much these days .. Feels like stan Twitter fan wars,” after listening to Priyanka’s goof-up.

RRR became the first Indian film to bag an Oscar award in the Original Song category for their track, Naatu Naatu. The soundtrack was composed by MM Keeravani. He collected his award along with lyricist Chandrabose and delivered his acceptance speech in the form of a re-written Carpenters song.

RRR is helmed by Baahubali director SS Rajamouli. It featured Jr. NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles. The movie also starred Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt, who originally work in Bollywood.
