Priyanka Chopra on her Hollywood career: Everybody thinks it is so easy, I had to be very humble

Priyanka Chopra Jonas claims she dreams bigger every day and doesn't let obstacles stand in her way as she works her way up the success ladder. The actor, who was born and raised in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, and is known all over the world, said that winning the Miss World title when she was 18 was the turning point in her quest for perfection.

According to the 40-year-old actor, the dream has to grow every day, and one shouldn't feel overwhelmed because that makes it intimidating. She told PTI that it should be like climbing a ladder; one has to walk on each rung and can't go from bottom to top.

The performer now lives in Los Angeles and went to India last week for the first time since the pandemic. She said that becoming a household name was not one of her goals when she was a child, but fame just happened to her.

Following her Miss World victory, she entered the Hindi film industry. She made her acting debut in the 2002 Tamil film Thamizhan before making her Bollywood debut in the spy thriller The Hero, starring Sunny Deol.

Recalling the same, Priyanka said that she starred in her first movie when she was 17 or 18 years old. The actor was trembling as she approached Sunny Deol's set and thought she had seen this person in movies since she was a kid. She declared that her reality wasn't like that.

Her parents were doctors, and she's from a little town near Bareilly. Priyanka didn't think she could ever be in the movies they saw. The actor, who is married to American singer Nick Jonas, has continued that, but her life has taken a different turn since she won a pageant. She added that she was so young that she didn't know what was thrust upon her.

Priyanka went to Hollywood after a series of well-received roles in Hindi movies like Aitraaz, Fashion, Barfi, Mary Kom, Kaminey, 7 Khoon Maaf, and Bajirao Mastani. She released a number of singles after relocating to the US, including In My City and Exotic, and played the lead in the hit TV series, Quantico. Additionally, she appeared in the movies Baywatch, A Kid Like Jake, Isn't It Romantic, and The Matrix Resurrections.

She is currently ready for Love Again, which will be her first main role in a Hollywood movie and hit theatres in May 2023.

Talking about the same, Priyanka said that all she did was make a daily effort to excel. And she picked it up, sat down, and observed how it operated. The actor listened to her fellow performers. Her work and acting school were and still are acting. Every action she takes advances her. She wants to improve on yesterday's performance.

Making a name for herself in the American film industry, according to Priyanka, was not easy, and she had to approach things as a beginner. The actor began with minor roles, but it takes little jobs to get to the bigger ones, and that's okay with her. Everyone thinks it was so simple, but all she had to do was go there, and it was finished. Priyanka had to act extremely modestly. She had to go in and give her name before she could show them her work that had to do with Bollywood on her showreel. She has worked with acting teachers, gone on auditions, and been turned down numerous times. But Priyanka continued on regardless. She's genuinely very proud of that and not ashamed of it at all.
