PRK Productions' endeavours so far have focused on home-grown Kannada talent to yield an impressive filmography. A few of them have slightly misfired, no about, but it is evident that the production house's pursuit is to create a niche, so to speak, for itself in the Kannada Film Industry.

Founded by the late Puneeth Rajkumar and his wife Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar, PRK Productions made its debut in 2019 with the neo-noir Kavaludaari and has since produced seven films that range from courtroom dramas and documentaries to crime-comedies.

Once such an enterprising idea is about to come to life on the big screen in the form of Aachar & Co., a new feature film directed by debutant Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy. If the bustling, modern-day Bengaluru was the subject of PRK's French Biriyani, Aachar & Co. goes back in time to the 1960s to capture a much more restrained and laidback era of the city. The first look of the film, which was released earlier today on July 3, teases a slice-of-life comedy-drama that brims with nostalgia and quirks from the city that was once fondly referred to as a 'pensioner's paradise'.

In a conversation with OTTplay, Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy shares that she derives the essence of the film from the lives and times of her own family members through their first-hand accounts of the setting. Interestingly, she has found her writing partner in well-known standup comic Kanan Gill who, she says, has imbued the idea with his trademark humour and wit.

Aachar & Co. will arrive in cinemas on July 28, 2023.

Sindhu also plays a key role as part of an ensemble cast that includes Vamsidhar Bhogaraju, Harshal Kaushik, Jagadeesh Sukumar, Anirudh Acharya along with veteran actors Sudha Belawadi and Ashok. Bindhumalini has scored the film's music with Abhimanyu Sadanandan and Ashok Kusugolli handling cinematography and editing respectively.

Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar and Gurudath A Talwar serve as the film's producers.
