Producer Lagadapati Sridhar: Want my son Vikram Sahidev to prove himself as an actor with Virgin Story

Child actor Vikram Sahidev, who starred in films Krishnamma Kalipindi Iddarini, Surya Son of India, Rowdy Boys, is turning a lead actor with Virgin Story. The film is bankrolled by the actor's father himself, Lagadapati Sridhar, under Ramalakshmi Cine Creations. Pradip B Atluri has helmed the coming-of-age tale which hits theatres on February 18. Ahead of the film's release this week, the producer engaged in a tete-in-tete with the media.

"Many films claim to be youth centric in our industry when they are essentially love stories about adult men and women. We have hardly seen stories about teenagers here. Virgin Story is an attempt to tell a story from the lens of a few 16-year-olds. What happens when a boy and girl in the same age fall in love? That's where the film takes off," he states.

Spilling the beans about the story, Sridhar says, "Whenever a person is truly connected to the other, it's only natural they are drawn to each other emotionally and physically. Such feelings can't arise if there's no love. Our film is a plea to the youth to be wise in their love lives. The story suggests them not to get into a relationship just for the sake of it without any love. Romance is of course an integral aspect of a youngster's life." 

Much like his earlier dance drama Style, the director of Virgin Story had come to the producer with a bound script. "I said yes to it immediately. Virgin Story will appeal not only to the youth but also to those who're young at heart. The film will help parents understand youngsters better. I don't want Vikram (Sahidev) to be known as my son but a good actor through Virgin Story. He has acted in many films recently and based on the response to this project, we'll take a call on his future films," Sridhar signed off.
