Fauda, a well-liked television series based on the experiences of Israeli actor Lior Raz and journalist Avi Issacharoff in the Israel Defense Forces, was developed by them. With Tanaav, directed by Sudhir Mishra and starring Manav Vij, Rajat Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan, Zarina Wahab, Ekta Kaul, and others, the political thriller has been localised for the Indian market.

The main requirement when Sameer Nair's Applause Entertainment purchased the adaptation rights of the series was to recreate the setting. The production team chose Kashmir as the backdrop for the political thriller. The producer told Mid Day that the original is a story about Israel and Palestine, clearly a story of strife between Jews and Muslims. It tends to become an Indo-Pak narrative when it is set in Kashmir. They decided to portray a political scenario that is taking place in Kashmir.

Nair claims that the team avoided broad-brushing on religion. Their hero is a Muslim who works for the Indian intelligence service and faces up against another Muslim who works for a different organisation. They are surrounded by a large group of individuals who could be Hindu or Muslim.

The new Sony LIV series is an identity-centred narrative at its core. Nair provides a compelling example to support her point. Nair also said that in the drama, there are two characters named Malik; one is a Punjabi Malik who serves as the head of an intelligence agency in India. The other is a Pakistani male. The idea of how identities are drawn from the same nation needed to be established, and these details were crucial. It was crucial to preserve the local Kashmiri culture. The landscape of Fauda is arid and drab. Because Kashmir is Jannat, the appearance has altered.

He is unconcerned by parallels to the original, which has gained enormous global popularity. The goal is to deliver the same tale to a larger and more diverse audience by using its basic elements. The audience is not someone who has seen Fauda, and the purpose is to use their actors and cinematic language.
