Mithun Chakraborty and Dev’s Projapati is flying high. Soon after its release on December 23, the film started with a grand opening at the box office. Along with Projapati, Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s Haami 2 and Sandip Ray’s Hatyapuri were also released. Among the three, Projapati has done the best business at BO so far. As per Tollywood sources, the film minted Rs 2.17 cr in the first week.

Projapati had 189 shows in the first week. Within the next week, it increased to 289 shows. This family drama tells the story of a father-son relationship, conflicts, and their emotional journey. However, the film did not get any show Nandan. Dev already tweeted about this issue. Dev tweeted on Saturday that he would miss Nandan. However, the debate did not end there. It rather took a political turn. A section of netizens claimed that the film did not get a show at Nandan because of Mithun Chakraborty who belongs to the opposition’s political party in Bengal. Ruling party leader Kunal Ghosh ignited the debate by saying ‘Mithun has ruined the film’. Dev – also an MP of the ruling party – reacted sharply to his comment. However, the film has now been released nationwide and is being garnered with a lot more houseful shows.
