Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta’s Ajogyo will delve into jobloss and its aftermath

Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta are pairing for the 50th time. The pair means magic on the big screen. The pair ruled Bengali cinema in the 90s with blockbusters like Sasurbari Jindabad, Mayar Badhon, Baba Keno Chakor, and so on. However, they grew apart for some reason and did not work together for around a decade.

After 14 years, Prosenjit and Rituparna paired in Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s film Prakton in 2016. Then Kaushik Ganguly brought them together in the film Drishtikon in 2018. After that, they were not seen together again in the last five years. But they are returning with Kaushik Ganguly's film Ajogya. This will be their fiftieth film together. In Prosenjit's words, he does not think any other pair did a half-century in India.

The story revolves around Raktim Majumdar, who works in a bank, and his wife Parna. Raktim suddenly loses his job and that changes the family's dimension. Raktim has to stay at home and take care of their kid while Parna has to take a job in an investment farm. Then Prasen comes into their life. Does it change the middle-class couple's equation? The answer lies in the film.

Silajit and Sudip Mukherjee play two important roles in the film. Prosenjit told Ei Samay, “Working in several films with a director like Kaushik is a wonderful feeling. And this is my fiftieth film with Ritu. Hopefully, this will be a memorable experience.”

Rituparna Sengupta said, “It is a matter of honour to get love from the audience for such a long time. I am grateful to God and the audience. The experience of working with Kaushik da is also fabulous. Hopefully, I kept up to the expectation.”
