One of Kannada cinema’s hottest flavours right now is Pruthvi Ambaar, the TV star-turned-big screen actor, who moved from Tulu movies to Sandalwood with the 2020 hit, Dia. Playing Adi in Dia changed Pruthvi’s fortunes in Kannada cinema almost overnight. From doing uncredited roles in films like Karvva, Rajaru and DK Boss, today, Pruthvi is the hero in Life is Beautiful, Sugarless and For Regn, apart from untitled flicks announced with Kushee Ravi and Pramod, among others. There’s a role in Shivarajkumar’s 123rdfilm, Bairagee, he’s got a Tamil debut in the works and is reprising his role in the Hindi remake of Dia as well. Not bad, one could say!

The latest update from the actor is that he will headline the cast of RJ-turned-filmmaker Mayurra Raghavendra’s second directorial, Aba Jaba Daba. He will be paired with Nammane Yuvarani fame Ankita Amar in the film, which is likely to go on floors in February. Mayuraa announced his new film on the occasion of Makara Sankranti, starting off with a poster of Pruthvi, blindfolded and on his knees with guns pointed at him, which he followed up later in the day with a welcome post for Ankita. According to reports, Aba Jaba Daba is a fantasy film mixed with rom-com elements and has on board its ensemble cast Urvashi, PD Sathish Chandra, Achyuth Kumar, Sudharani, Mahantesh, Nidhi Subbaiah, Anantha Krishna, Raghu Vine Store, Anirudh Mahesh, among others.

But what piqued everyone’s interest in the film is the very first poster that Mayuraa released to announce the title, in early December, which read Karate King Shankar Nag in Aba Jaba Daba. What’s the late actor’s connection to the film? Let’s wait and watch.
