Pruthvi Ambaar’s Sugarless is now available on YouTube

A year ago, Dia star Pruthvi Ambaar had his first solo release, a film called Sugarless. The directorial debut of producer Shashidhar KM, Sugarless had Pruthvi as a youngster dealing with the repercussions of having Type 2 diabetes. Ahead of the film’s theatrical release, Pruthvi had told us that Sugarless was his first film since Dia and the pandemic and that he was mighty impressed with the story, which he thought was a first for Kannada cinema. “The film might be called Sugarless, but there are a lot of sweet moments in it, be it in the romance, drama or comedy,” the actor had said.

While Shashidhar had said that his film would explore why a 28-year-old would get diabetes, the related health issues the condition brings, and the stigma associated with being diabetic, he chose to make Sugarless as a comedy that was far from sympathetic to patients. The film had a short-lived theatrical stint, after which it became available on Voot Select. As of today, though, the film can be streamed for free as the full film is now on the official YouTube page of A2 movies.

In the film, Pruthvi’s character Venky is all set to marry the love of his life, Mahalakshmi (played by Priyanka Thimmesh), when he is diagnosed with diabetes and decides to keep it a secret. How he goes about covering up his diabetic status and the subsequent fallout is what the film is all about.

Sugarless is the latest addition to the list of films available on the A2 movies YouTube page. Two months ago, Akshith Shashikumar’s Oh My Love was uploaded. Also available are films like Shivarajkumar’s Jogi, Upendra’s A, among many others.
