Puja Banerjee to play a Cabaret dancer in Addatimes’s new series Cabaret – a series that will be dropped on Addatimes on January 26. Billed as a period drama, the web series will also feature Satyam Bhattacharya and Santilal Mukherjee. The show is directed by Utsav Mukherjee.

For the first time, actress Puja Banerjee will be seen playing the role of a cabaret dancer. “I always wanted to play a character like Miss Elina. The show has a very beautiful love story in it. As an actor, this script demands the best of you. This does not happen often. Miss Elina has many shades, which you will soon see when Cabaret releases.”

Set in Calcutta and other parts of West Bengal in the ’60s and ’70s, The web series is an unusual love story of a cabaret dancer Miss Elina, played by Puja Banerjee, and a Naxalite militant Swarup (Satyam Bhattacharya). The show dramatically wrapped under contemporary radical politics, social hierarchy, class struggle, and human relationships. Cabaret promises to be an emotional journey of a young girl from a remote village to claim the crown of the best cabaret dancer in Calcutta.

Talking about the show, Utsav said, “The journey of Miss Elina comes to terms with different people and situations that not only shape her life but also decide the courses of others around her. It's a story of love, passion, family, emotion, politics, revenge, and, most importantly, different human conditions.”

The music will be helmed by Shibasish Mukherjee.
